After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Senior Communication for Development Specialist, ROSA-Polio Hub - UNICEF - Amman, Jordan

Purpose of the post: Under the direct supervision of the UNICEF Senior Polio Manager, the Senior C4D Specialist will:

1. Provide strategic and operational guidance and support to Afghanistan and Pakistan country offices, to develop and implement components of UNICEF’s communication and community engagement strategy for polio eradication.

2. Translate global polio communications for development policy and practice guidance into cutting edge action at country and regional levels.

3. Guide and facilitate country and regional programmatic communication in polio eradication and routine immunization.

The incumbent will also be responsible for support to countries under the Hub umbrella to streamline C4D components into polio campaign planning and implementation. The incumbent will focus on providing country support necessary to refine polices, strategies and programme operations to stop poliovirus transmission.
