Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

HIV/AIDS Curriculum for the Senior-Level Officer

SummaryText
This curriculum is designed to provide new trainees in the Nepal Police with basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) so they may protect their own health and that of their families. The curriculum assumes that participants have a bachelors-level education and already possess basic knowledge of human reproductive and sexual health.

The curriculum is participatory, including group work, discussions, field visits and interaction with vulnerable groups. The course is expected to take 18-24 work hours, with 12 hours in classroom activities and the remainder in the field.

The publication is divided into 4 sections:
  • Background, defining the programme goals and objectives, and outlining the curriculum design, methods and time requirements.
  • Guidelines on the Delivery of the Training, including lesson/facilitation plans and factual information on each topic.
  • Class Materials, including a pre-and post test questionnaire, an HIV/AIDS quiz, and quotes on stigma, discrimination and human rights.
  • Tips for the Facilitator, including advice on preparation, needs assessment and evaluation.
