PreventAIDS South Africa - South Africa
PreventAIDS South Africa is a media project that was established in 1999 to help lessen stigmatisation of people living with HIV/AIDS and to raise money for children and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. The project pairs photographs of famous South Africans with people living with AIDS in an effort to personalise the disease, offer solidarity and hope, and decrease the stigmatisation. Desmond Tutu's photograph was run in the first media poster; Graca Machel proposed for the second poster.
