Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Vinyl 2010 Sustainable Thinking Platform - Multimedia Competition

Through its Sustainable Thinking Platform, an online community for young people from all around the world to discuss and learn about sustainability issues, Vinyl 2010 is hosting its second multimedia competition. They are seeking the best essays, photos, and videos from aged 18-30 years old that can illustrate the following question: “With an ever-increasing population, how can we maximise resource efficiency to meet our growing needs?”.

Participants will be competing for the chance to win a laptop computer, a photographic camera or a camcorder depending on the entry category. In addition, those participants who contribute the largest number of posts will be awarded a sports bag made out of recycled advertising banners. To rate other members' work, participants click on an essay, picture, or video and choose the number of stars to award the entry. Also, a 100 Euro Amazon gift certificate will be awarded to the person who has the most friends register to participate.
