After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Youth Vote 2000 is the largest non-partisan coalition of national organizations committed to encouraging civic participation and promoting a better understanding of public policy issues among young people in the U.S. By coordinating and leveraging the election year activities of members, youth are engaged in the political process.
Communication Strategies

Training and targeting of youth for mobilization of communities is initiated at conferences before the elections, organizers around the country are hired to coordinate the activities of our members' local affiliates and lead non-partisan voter education, registration and mobilization drives, and electronic and print Election Day Civics Guides are distributed across the country.

Youth Vote 2000 is actively soliciting organizations with national or regional missions to join their coalition. Their structure includes three categories for participation: Board, Member and Supporter.

Partnerships in development with MTV's "Choose or Lose" campaign, the National Association of Secretaries of State's "New Millennium Project" and others.
