Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

The Development Forum is a public venue for online discussions on development issues sponsored by the World Bank on behalf of the entire development community.
Communication Strategies

Its focal point is a series of new and ongoing moderated electronic discussions on key issues and challenges facing the development community and the world's poor, with particular emphasis on learning from the experience of those who face these challenges in their daily lives. Discussion Groups include: Ending Violence Against Women, Rural Communications In Africa, Facilitating Foreign Direct Investment, Social Capitol, Attacking Poverty (in english, french and spanish), Knowledge and Information for Development, Gender and Law, and Les Consequences de la Maternite Precoce sur l'Education des Filles en Afrique (french only).

Economic development, political development, communication, women, gender.
Key Points

Discussions in the Development Forum are open to participants from around the world. In order to assure that those with limited Internet access can participate, these dialogues are conducted by means of moderated email lists, archived to the Development Forum web site.
