Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
Monitoring and Evaluation Network of Training Online Resources (MENTOR) is a web-based compilation of free training materials and tools on health-related monitoring and evaluation (M&E) topics for use by researchers, programme managers, trainers, policy makers, students, and other public health professionals. The Monitoring and Evaluation to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Project, which makes the resources on this website available, is a collaboration of the Carolina Population Center, John Snow, Inc., Macro International Inc., Tulane University, and Constella Futures International, Inc.

MENTOR consists of the following three types of resources on topics including monitoring and evaluation of population, health and nutrition programmes, monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS programmes, monitoring and evaluation of tuberculosis programmes and routine health information systems:
  • Interactive mini-course on M&E Fundamentals:
This self-instructional mini-course provides information on the basics of M&E. It includes self-assessment quizzes, interactive exercises, lists of resources, a glossary of key terms, and a final exam. Participants scoring 80 per cent or higher on the final exam are eligible to download and print a course certificate.
  • Downloadable training materials:
These materials consist of various slide sets, case studies and accompanying training materials used in regional workshops (schedule and location information of these workshops available on the website). The information includes M&E of population, health and nutrition programmes, M&E of HIV/AIDS programmes, M&E of tuberculosis programmes, and routine health information systems. According to the website, materials in English, Spanish, and French will be posted to this site as they become available.
  • Population Research Materials:
These web modules provide information and tools for students and professionals on population-related topics, including Priorities for Local AIDS Control Efforts (PLACE), multiple decrement life tables and population analysis for planners.

Some of the materials are available at no charge on CD-ROM. Click here to place an order.

Some materials are downloadable for printing in hardcopy. Click here to access downloading information.

i am a young Liberian who really want to acquire the knowledge of m & e. i want to acquire so that i can have the potential to take the proper satistics of those things that are tthe causes of suffering in our country and the world. i also noticed that there is no accurate records on things we are involve in and things we need, we see that the means of getting them is very hard; and one can only help by going through the training of m & e.
