Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

The International Reporting Project (IRP) Grants on Global Health Reporting

The International Reporting Project (IRP) is offering up to 5 "IRP Fellowships in Global Health Reporting" in the spring of 2011. US journalists interested in covering global health stories are invited to apply for 9-week reporting grants offered by this Washington DC, United States (US)-based organisation to cover global health stories such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, and scientific research aimed at reducing the impact of global diseases.

US journalists with at least 5 years' experience in any media are eligible to apply for the grants, which are part of the IRP's programmes, which are designed to encourage in-depth global coverage in the US media. The reporting grants provide 4 weeks in Washington and 5 weeks overseas in the country of the applicant's choice.
