Health action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

This website and e-library are created by the Stigma Action Network (SAN), which seeks to reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination through a dynamic network that will catalyse action and commitment locally, regionally ,and globally through knowledge sharing, dialogue, and partnerships. It is designed to be a "one-stop shop" for affected populations, programme designers and implementers, researchers, advocates, trainers, and donors to learn about the latest tools, technical resources, research findings, best practices, and new initiatives in reducing HIV-related stigma and discrimination. This online resource was established to facilitate networking, dialogue, partnerships, and knowledge sharing among diverse stakeholders around the world.

As of September 2011, the SAN e-library housed over 600 resources on HIV and HIV-related stigma and discrimination. It may be browsed by topic or used through the advanced search to locate journal articles, guidance documents, tools, and communication materials.
