AI Animal Health Training

This PowerPoint presentation is one of three training documents designed to be used with the training manual Strengthening Training Outreach and Prevention for the ongoing Avian Influenza (STOP AI). The training documents, all PowerPoint presentations, include: AI Animal Health Training; AI Human Health Training; and AI Communication Skills Training, and are included on a CD which accompanies the STOP AI training manual.

This PowerPoint presentation was presented by Truong Huang Hong, the Health Training and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Coordinator for CARE Vietnam. The presentation provides details and information on avian influenza, including the characteristics, transmission routes, symptoms, treatment and prevention of the disease in poultry.

The presentation outlines various preventative measures that people can take to prevent bird flu outbreaks. Some of these measures include: keeping poultry away from wild birds; keeping poultry out of the house; keeping farms and poultry areas clean and disinfected; keeping birds vaccinated against avian flu; and continuously monitoring the health of poultry. The presentation also includes information on what to do with sick or dead poultry.
