UNESCO Media Strategy - Freedom & Development - Global
This is a new communication strategy supporting free and independent media with a pragmatic effort to contribute to the development of such media in societies where both freedom and pluralism have seen difficult times in the past.
Communication Strategies
The creation of the International Programme for the Development of Communication was intended to mobilize new economic contributions for specific media projects in developing countries. The programme helped establish communication infrastructures such as journalistic training centers, press and media institutes, community radios, local newspapers, video production companies, news agencies, and professional networks.
Development Issues
Political development, rights, strategy, media development, democracy.
Key Points
The media strategy can be summarized into two main tracks, "freedom" and "development". The success of this strategy is due to the careful selection and creation of projects along with a clearly outlined strategy.
